I had the pleasure of visiting a fellow traveller, derek, and his family in Atlanta. What was even kinder was that derek took us to the NFL game that weekend, which was Atlanta Falcons vs Washington Commanders. So that was another American sport I got to watch live, here was a shot from our seats in the modern stadium.
We also went to the bars and restaurants outside the baseball stadium, which was a good night out.
Atlanta hosted the Olympics in 1996, so I walked around the Centennial Olympic Park and saw the Olympic rings.
Next on my city tour was a very American museum, the World of Coca-Cola, which I really enjoyed visiting, reading their history and trying loads of different soft drinks.
On the east side of the city, I walked along a section of the beltline. This former railway route has been turned into a walking & cycling track that loops around the city.
Outside the city to the east is Stone Mountain, which we hiked up and then took the cable car back down. Over to the north, we drove up to Amicolola Falls and did a hike there, seeing the waterfalls. This is also the start of the Appalachian trail long distance hiking path.
Fantastic scenery, and a good way to end my time in Atlanta.
