I visited Langkawi many years ago in 2012, with my original post here; Langkawi. So it seemed long enough ago it was worth visiting again.

The beaches were just as nice as I remembered, the main ones of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah are were most of the tourist action is based, with lots of guesthouses and restaurants. I took a scooter around the island to see some other spots, reaching Tanjung Rhu on the north of the island shown above. Great sunset below caught at Tengah beach.

It was recently Ramadan, and the end of Ramadan holiday, Eid, was happening when I got to Langkawi, so this did mean many restaurants were closed. As the staff returned to their hometowns to be with family for the holidays. This did mean Langkawi was pretty quiet, but that didn’t stop me enjoying the beaches and scenery. I walked to near the airport to watch some planes land and saw these fishing boats on the river.

Built in 2003 the Langkawi cable car takes people up high on to the island to give views out down to the sea and coastline of the island.

Located at the top of the cable car, built in 2005 in the Langkawi Sky Bridge, a very impressive engineering construction giving more fantastic views out across the island.

It was a nice view days enjoying Langkawi, and it still offers a cheap night out due to its status as a duty free island, with alcohol being much cheaper than the rest of Malaysia!
