I flew down to Puerto Escondido on the morning of Christmas eve in the small Aerotucan Cessna plane. Its only a 35 minute flight, but was preferred over a 6 hour minivan ride over the mountains. Here is the plane ready to go in the early morning sun.
The flight is short and sweet, it climbs to 9000 feet just over the top of the mountains before descending towards the coast. I was sat right behind the pilot so had great visibility out the front and side windows for the views just below.
Puerto Escondido is a pleasant beach town, with the main beach popular for surfing. The other small beaches shown in the photos are calmer so more suitable for swimming. I think below is Playa Carrazalillo. I was staying close to here, in between the downtown area and the Rinconada area.
It was a relaxing spot to stay over Christmas time. There is not a great deal else to do apart from relax on the beach, or to go the cafes and restaurants, but that suited me. Here is my favourite mexican brunch of Chilaquiles. This is like breakfast nachos here with friend eggs and chicken, delicious.
After the beach time here I flew back up to Mexico City for New Years Eve.
