A brief journey heading south west along the coast; for about an hour on the train; took me to Hikkaduwa. My hotel was right next to the railway line so I could watch the local trains pass by, it was only 5 minutes walk to the beach.

The beach at the was clean with good clear water for swimming.

Next to Hikkaduwa beach is Turtle beach. As the name suggests, here is a fantastic spot to see giant sea turtles. It did not disappoint, with a couple easily found in the shallow pristine water.

This was one of my favourite meals in Sri Lanka with excellent rice and curry. I had fish curry, pineapple curry, dahl and coconut sambol.

There are some nice beach bars along the southern stretch of the beach, to have a drink whilst watching the sunset.

Then it was time for another short journey on the train to Galle.
